March – 2020 Events

Dr. Edwin Aroke, PhD, CRNA, Assistant Professor, University of Alabama at Birmingham with Research interest on Pharmacogenetics: Dr. Aroke will serve on PhD Panel at Emory University.

Dr. Erica Delay Moore, DNP, CRNA (Assistant Program Director, Emory University Nurse Anesthesia Program) will serve on the DNP Panel.

Rylee Apodaca, SRNA (University of Arizona) will speak on her DNP capstone scholarly project impacting women in labor.

Dr. Apodaca DNP Scholarly Project: Development of Algorithm for Postpartum Hemorrhage Resuscitation. She was able to share results and distributed to the Obsterics Unit of anesthesia and nurse team members. Prior to this, no such protocol was instituted and as a result poor outcomes. Now, her DNP project will help laboring women in need of this algorithm.

Dr. Khalil Demonbreum, DNP, RNC-OB, WHNP-BC, ANP-BC, FAANP will speak on Maternal and Women’s Health Issues on the panel.

Presently, Dr. Demonbreum serves as the Women’s Health Medical Director at the Veterans Medical Center in Columbia, SC. His practice is primarily Obstetric, prenatal & gynecological care of women. He is Co-Chair of ANA Scope & Practice 4th Edition Workshop and a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. 

Dr. Nathaly Palacios, DNP, CRNA will speak on DNP capstone: Instituting an Information Session about Epidurals Prior to Labor.

Dr. Palacios will serve on the Maternal Health and Elimination of Racial Disparities in Black Maternal Mortality Panel at this event. If adopted at hospitals affecting patients of color with improved outcomes as a result. 

Dr. Kenneth Lowe, DNP, CRNA (Graduate, Florida International University) on DNP capstone: Obstetric Protocol in the Jehova Witness Population.

Dr. Kenneth Lowe, DNP, CRNA will serve on the Maternal Health and Elimination of Racial Disparities in Black Maternal Mortality Panel at this event. His doctorate capstone was adopted on an Obstetric Labor Unit at local hospital.
