Manifesting joy, strength, community, and excellence as
Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science hosted the Diversity in Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program's information session and airway skills lab. Thousands of nurses have been to these events and are now in CRNA school or are CRNAs because of it. My cohort is made up of people I met at Diversity CRNA events.
This isn't just speaking about DEIB. It's creating it, fostering it, embodying it. It's being intentional about bringing a chair to a table we were told we dont belong at. It's about making room for more chairs. It's igniting the passion and creating the spark for people who are told to dim their flame or dull their shine.
My dad and grandma would have LOVED to see me on the student panel. Their goal in life was for me to reach the places they never could. I come from a family of nurses, and I am in the places that they could never reach. I am the second college graduate in my family and will be the first ever to obtain a doctorate degree in 2027. This is my story but is not unlike many of the stories I've heard mentoring nurses and last weekend. This is the impact of Diversity in Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program and the vision of
