Fun fact: Out of a 60K CRNA Workforce, only 4% are Black CRNAs, 4% Hispanic CRNAs, 3% Asian CRNAs & 0.7% Indigenous CRNAs
In 2024, we have 5 Diversity CRNA Info & Airway events with early professional socialization to increase representation. This fun fact moves us to do so.
And, just like that, Marcus Wilson (University of South Carolina School of Medicine Nurse Anesthesia Program)
Successfully defended group DNAP project and graduates next week
The Effectiveness of the Erector Spinae Plane Block for Post-Op Pain status post Cardiac Surgery
And, Marcus is a Goldie Brangman CRNA 2022 Scholar selected by the Diversity in Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program.

Imran Mohamed DNP Nurse Anesthesia Student Mount Marty College & first generation Canadian/American graduate student with parents from Somalia.
Six years ago, in a Kansas City, MO nursing school, Imran was the only Black student in cohort and encouraged to pursue Nurse Anesthesia.
While in the program at Mount Marty University, Imran was introduced to Black Men CRNAs & nurse anesthesia students across the country to minimize social isolation.
Today, was Imran's last day in clinical. In two weeks, graduating and eligible to sit for CRNAs Boards. Well done.

My story...volunteered at a local hospital before nursing school and worked as an ICU RN in Singapore and then in the United States!
Fast forward....Earned a Master's degree and 3 certifications! Then, attended a Diversity CRNA 2023 Information Session & Simulation Lab Évent
at Samuel Merritt University.
I have always had a personal desire to become CRNA, but it was through your mentorship and leadership that I discovered a deeper purpose in my career aspirations.
I aspire to help other diverse individuals like myself achieve their dreams and to advocate for the underrepresented population to receive the quality healthcare they deserve.
Once again, thank you for all that you do. Hopefully, one day I can make a difference in the lives of those in need through the field of nurse anesthesia.
Now, on my way to the University of Miami Nurse Anesthesia Program!

I’ve been back for over a week and all I can think about is
#AllThingsCRNA
I cannot stop thinking about how motivational it was to see people who look like me achieve and thrive in EXCELLENCE!
The world can praise your abilities but if you cannot see it in yourself it will be nothing! Now that my eyes are open..I can’t close them!!
I’m ready! Thank you Dr. Gould and Diversity CRNA!
Repeat after me...I will be a CRNA!
