United States Army Full Bird Colonel Dr. Karen Mechelle Smith, DNAP, CRNA completed multiple tour duties in Kuwait, Germany & Honduras! And, Dr. Smith is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated & Alumni of Grambling State University School of Nursing. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama Nurse Anesthesia Program. She started her military career as a nursing student at Grambling State University (Historically Black College & University).

Experience the thrill of practical learning in our exhilarating Airway Simulation Lab Workshop. Get hands-on with vital airway management skills – the cornerstone of a Nurse Anesthetist's prowess. Immerse yourself in a real simulation lab, guided by seasoned Nurse Anesthetists and expert faculty. Elevate your mastery of airway management through immersive exercises, all while sharing this epic journey with your fellow attendees.
Simulation Lab Experience - As per the university website: The Pitt Nurse Anesthesia Program is a national leader in simulation education. Simulation experiences will take place at the 16,000 square-foot Peter M. Winter Institute for Simulation Education and Research (WISER). WISER is a world-class inter-professional simulation training and research facility focused on improving education and patient safety through effective healthcare provider education.
Introducing WISER (Winter Institute for Simulation, Education, and Research) for nurses who will have an opportunity to have an immersive hands-on high-fidelity anesthesia simulation lab!
New! Nurses will have an opportunity to engage with Augmented Reality or AR station, intubation skill stations, Glidescope, McGrath intubation, US station, fiber-optic intubation, Vimedix POCUS, spinal and epidural placements in mannequins, Lumis Platform AR interactions, and more!
