Quite often, as an avid reader of truth…
I will post quotes from prolific Black authors, civil right leaders & writers with the likes of James Baldwin, Maya Angelou, Zora Neale Hurston, Marian Wright Edelman, Bell Hooks, Langston Hughes & more celebrating diverse CRNAs & future CRNAs.
More often, I see Black critical care nurses who are accepted or matriculating in nurse anesthesia programs, share the same quotes in their own social media posts!
I see you...Nick Ross, Nurse Anesthesia Student Texas Christian University quoting Marian Wright Edelman, “You can’t be, what you can’t see!”

LAST DAY OF CLINICAL...
Completing the last day of clinical rotation brings an overwhelming sense of joy and accomplishment, marking the end of countless early mornings and long days filled with unwavering dedication.
The journey through clinical logs, meticulous care plans, and steadfast commitment to patient safety has been challenging, with every moment spent under the watchful eyes of preceptors shaping you into a more skilled and confident SRNA.
As you close this chapter, the satisfaction of knowing you have met all the rigorous clinical hours and skill requirements, grown professionally, and made a positive impact on patient care is deeply rewarding. This milestone signifies not just the end of a demanding period, but the beginning of a promising future career as a nurse anesthetist.

Another clinical rotation complete Alhamdulillah
After completing 3 rotations so far, it’s eye opening to see the different levels of autonomy CRNAs have depending on the culture of the practice.
This was the first site where I was left alone in the room 90% of the time.
First site where I performed anesthesia for Trauma patients (gunshots, stabbings, motor vehicle accidents)
First site where I was on overnight call shifts and went to the floor for emergent intubations.
Lots of firsts, but I’m still a baby in the world of
hashtag#anesthesia ; glad that I’m able to finally start walking on my own a little bit.
Though I battle with the chronic fatigue that comes with school, I’m Incredibly humble and grateful for all the opportunities and preceptors that go out of their way to educate me in ways that help improve my practice.
