Dear Diversity CRNA Community,
As we enter into the last month of summer, I hope you had an opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved vacation break. August brings a renewed sense of energy and focus as we continue our mission to support and empower aspiring CRNAs.
We are back! We are excited to announce that our next event will take place at Rosalind Franklin University, and it is already filled to capacity! For those who missed the chance to register in person, don't worry—you can still join us virtually. Register today to catch the Saturday Information Session via Zoom Broadcast.
In addition, we have two free Zoom Basic Interview Sessions scheduled for August 24th and 25th at 11:00 AM. These sessions are a great opportunity to hone your interview skills and prepare for the next steps in your journey. The remaining interview preparation sessions for the rest of the year will be posted soon, so stay tuned.
We want to thank Dr. Victor Pareja, who is stepping down as the Chair of the Diversity CRNA Interview Preparation Committee to focus on his PhD studies. Dr. Pareja has lent his exceptional expertise to this former role and set the foundation for this invaluable service. We are pleased to announce that the committee will continue in excellent care with Dr. Lukeythia Bastardi, PhD, CRNA, and Dr. Stephen Sanchez, DNP, CRNA will co-chair moving forward.
Additionally, registration is now open for the Diversity CRNA Resume & Personal Statement Writing Workshop on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
I am excited to be one of three CRNAs selected in the inaugural class of 176 Fellows for the newly established Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing (ADLN). The Fellows ADLN induction ceremony took place at the National Black Nurses Conference in San Francisco on July 25th. I was honored as a Luminary ADLN Fellow by the National Black Nurses Association for my over thirty years in nursing and renowned JEDI contributions, as well as my innovative groundbreaking work as the Founder of the Diversity in Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program.
During the NBNA Conference, also first exemplar Fellow, Goldie Brangman, CRNA, MBA, MEd, FALDN, Founder & Program Director, Harlem School of Anesthesia 1951 - 1986 was inducted in the inaugural posthumous cohort for her historical significant contribution. The third CRNA inducted in the Inaugural Class of the Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing was Dr. Edwin Aroke, PhD, CRNA, FAANA, FAAN (Tenured Associate Professor, PhD Program Director, NIH Racial Pain Disparities Researcher, University of Alabama at Birmingham).
