Three CRNAs selected in the inaugural class of 176 Fellows selected for newly established Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing (ADLN).
 
First exemplar Fellow, Goldie Brangman, CRNA, MBA, MEd, FALDN was inducted in the inaugural posthumous cohort for historical significant contribution with Brangman family members, Dr. Karen Alexander, PhD, RN, CNOR and Dorothy Brangman. The Brangman family accepted the Academy certificate and a gold medallion with Goldie Brangman name engraved on the back of this beautiful piece.
 
Ms. Goldie Brangman Nurse Anesthetist was the Founder & Program Director, Harlem School of Anesthesia 1951 - 1986.
 
She emergently administered anesthesia to Dr. Martin King Jr. after near fatal stabbing assassination in a Harlem bookstore in 1958.
 
In 1958, while on call at Harlem Hospital, Goldie Brangman, CRNA would deliver anesthesia to Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. for an assassination attempt to him with a near fatal stab wound to his chest while he was in Harlem for a book signing event.
 
Ms. Brangman was the first and only Black Nurse Anesthetist elected as the AANA President 1973 -1974.
 
The Fellows ADLN induction ceremony took place at the National Black Nurses Conference in San Francisco (July 25th).
