A crna•ish testimony from Ashley Abugarsh ICU RN, an attendee at a Diversity CRNA 2021 Information Session & Airway Simulation Lab Workshop event & shadowing experience too!

It’s hard to even articulate how impactful and motivating this weekend was. I attended Diversity CRNA in Oakland. I got to meet so many like minded nurses that are driven to make a change

Out of the 60K CRNAs currently practicing only 4% are Hispanic. Hearing the stories of the adversities many had to overcome to get to where they are let me know I was not alone. That I too could do this.

The Airway Simulation day ignited my fortitude to push ahead and gave me the confidence to believe in myself. I could not recommend this workshop enough!! I am forever grateful for Dr. Lena Gould, CRNA.

I’m 38 weeks pregnant and I’ve just finished making the most comforting Haitian Rice & Beans. My heart, womb and tummy are literally quite full of gratitude and joyfulness. I asked God to confirm and bless my plans in March. I was granted with purpose and blessing as I traveled nationwide to attend four conferences while pregnant. The fatigue and nausea lifted as I entered each meeting room and exposition hall with openness and wanting. To all the beautiful souls that I have met and to the mentors I’ve gained, your kind words and actions do not go unnoticed. Wallena Gould, EdD, CRNA, FADLN, FAANA, FAAN Jakkarin Jake Sareerak, DNP, CRNA, CHSE. Dianna Heikkila, PhD, CRNA Levia A. Sutton Diondra Penland, CRNA Debra Varela Natassia Watson MPH BSN RN CCRN-CMC, Willy Ching, Tara Pettus, Betsy Braley, and Dr. Nathaly Palacios

Happy CRNA week and Happy MLK Day. I’m ready to make a bigger difference in this world.

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Repeat after me...I will be a CRNA!

Access & early professional socialization Immersion Model for Diversifying Nurse Anesthesia Programs.

The 3-Day Event offers this and so much more!

As per Casey Green MSN, RN, RRNA, CCRN-CMC, CTRN, CFRN, CEN, TCRN, CPEN, CNRN, NRP:

Let me remind you that not speaking out on the attack on DEI and nefarious alignment to make it mean something it doesn't, across organizations, workforces, companies, and the government cheapens the work I and so many others do to fight for everyone to have the opportunity for equality.

Calling me: A 10 year nurse, 5 year EMT, 5 year paramedic with 8 nursing certifications, 6 degrees, and a doctoral student in nurse anesthesia a DEI hire as an insult doesn't work. I'm over qualified for almost any nursing job, and my merit and grit are what put me in every place where my skin color allowed the equal opportunity that I may not have otherwise received without DEI and EEO policy in place.

Remember that these insults have a face and usually a long list of qualifications.

For 10 years, Black CRNAs have committed to increasing pathway initiatives by visibly making ourselves known to Black nursing students at Diversity CRNA HBCU School of Nursing Tours 2014 - 2024.

We hand each student photo collages of Black CRNAs standing in front of the anesthesia machine.

Our next Diversity CRNA 2025 HBCU School of Nursing Tour will be located at North Carolina A&T State University on March 14th!

All of this is intentional, of course.

Diversity CRNA Effect!
