JULY 2024
DIVERSITY CRNA NEWSLETTER

Dear Diversity CRNA Community,
Wow! Can you believe that 2024 is already more than halfway over? Last month, we had an exciting and inspiring time at the University of Pittsburgh, and now we are eagerly headed to Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in August. The remaining in-person events for the year, at Duke University and Fairfield University, are also at full capacity.
We understand how disappointing it can be for those hoping to attend who could not secure a spot. Unfortunately, we cannot accept onsite walk-in registrations at our events. Each event has an extensive waiting list, and the odds of getting in are slim. Emailing us or reaching out will not improve your chances. However, we will start posting our 2025 in-person events on the Diversity CRNA website in December. Be sure to register early, as our events fill up quickly.
July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to bring awareness to the unique challenges that racial and ethnic minorities in the United States face regarding mental illness. According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, in 2020, fewer than one in two African American adults received care for their mental health. In 2018, Asian Americans were 60 percent less likely to receive mental health treatment than non-Hispanic Whites. Obstacles for many include a lack of health insurance, limited access to treatment, and stigma. We at Diversity CRNA understand the importance of mental health, and we encourage you to take time to learn more about supporting good mental health for yourself and others. If you or someone you know is struggling, please know that you are not alone, and seeking help is a sign of strength.
For the remainder of 2024, please look forward to more Diversity CRNA Interview Preparation Sessions, with the schedule being posted soon. Additionally, registration is now open for the Diversity CRNA Resume & Personal Statement Writing Workshop on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
Please check out
more videos clips from the University of Pittsburgh. We look forward to meeting those who have registered for our remaining 2024 events. Have a safe and wonderful summer and remember to take care of yourselves and each other.
