Dear Diversity CRNA Community,

As we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15^th – October 15^th), and Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), I am filled with pride and gratitude for the incredible journey we have shared this year. This September, we just wrapped up our 4th event for 2024 and celebrated our 65th Diversity CRNA Information Session and Simulation Lab Workshop at Duke University. A huge thank you to all who attended and made it such a success!

In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the Hispanic CRNAs and SRNAs in our community who continue to break barriers, serve as mentors, and demonstrate the power of representation in healthcare. Your dedication enriches the nursing profession, and your presence in the field serves as an inspiration to future generations of Hispanic nurses. We are so proud of the vital contributions you make to our profession and to the patients you serve. ¡Gracias por todo lo que hacen!

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I also want to emphasize the importance of regular screenings and early detection. As healthcare providers, we understand that breast cancer can affect anyone. Whether it is a colleague, a family member, or even ourselves, taking the time to prioritize mammograms and regular self-examinations can save lives. Let’s all encourage the women in our lives—and ourselves—to stay vigilant about breast health.

Our fifth and final in-person event for 2024 is just around the corner, and we are thrilled to announce that the 67th Diversity CRNA Information Session and Simulation Lab Workshop will be hosted at Fairfield University. If you missed registering for this in-person event, don’t worry! You can still attend virtually through our Diversity CRNA Information Session, which will be broadcast live via Zoom from Fairfield University on Saturday, October 26th. Registration is now open, so do not miss this opportunity to connect and learn!

This past Sunday, we hosted our largest Diversity CRNA Advanced Interview Session, where 24 interviewees honed their skills in simulated graduate interviews. The breakout rooms, led by CRNA volunteers, gave participants a real feel for what to expect in an advanced interview setting. This weekend, we will hold the last Diversity CRNA Basic Interview Sessions for 2024, with one remaining Advanced Interview Session scheduled in November registration via invitation only. If you are looking to refine your application, remember that November is also the final submission window for the Personal Statement and Resume Review Committee until February 2025.

We are also excited to announce our Resume and Personal Writing Workshop on Saturday, November 9th. This invaluable session will help you perfect your application materials. Following this, our free services and events for 2024 will conclude on November 11th, allowing our dedicated CRNA volunteers to take a well-deserved break.

Stay tuned for the Save the Dates for our 2025 in-person events! Registration will open in December, and spaces fill up quickly, so mark your calendars now.
