JUNE 2024
DIVERSITY CRNA NEWSLETTER

I am ecstatic to share the incredible success of our 2nd in-person Diversity CRNA Information Session & Airway Simulation Lab Workshop, held at the University of Pittsburgh. This event was a remarkable gathering of passionate professionals and aspiring CRNAs, united by our shared commitment to diversity and excellence in nurse anesthesia. Witnessing your enthusiasm and dedication reaffirms our mission to foster an inclusive and supportive environment in nurse anesthesia.
As we embrace the warmth and joy of June, we extend heartfelt Father's Day greetings to all the amazing CRNA fathers in our community. Your unwavering dedication to both your families and your profession is truly inspiring.
This month, we also honor Juneteenth on June 19th, a profound moment in history that marks the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. Let us take this time to reflect on our journey towards equality and justice and renew our commitment to breaking down barriers and creating opportunities.
June is also Pride Month, a time to celebrate and support our CRNA members from the LGBTQIA+ community. Your courage and resilience enrich our profession and remind us of the importance of standing together in solidarity. We are proud to champion diversity in all its forms and to work alongside you in creating a more inclusive and equitable healthcare environment.
Let’s not forget, June is Men's Health Month, bringing awareness to the health issues that impact men, and particularly men of color, and encouraging early detection and treatment. According to the US Department of Health and Human Services' website, on average, men in the United States die nearly 6 years earlier than women and are at higher risk for many serious diseases, including heart disease, lung cancer, and HIV. In addition, men experience unique health problems that don’t affect women, like prostate cancer. To all our male CRNA members, we support you in prioritizing your health and well-being, knowing that a healthier you leads to a stronger, more vibrant community.
Thank you for your continued dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the nurse anesthesia profession. Together, we are making strides towards a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
With gratitude and pride,
